Anand Jog is a study in contrast. Disciplined and free spirited. Traditional and Maverick. Devoted and rebel. Businessman and artist. Can talk non-stop when needed and can work quietly on his canvass for hours without uttering a single word.
Born in a traditional Konkanastha Brahmin family, educated in a traditional Marathi medium school, he actually wanted to be an airforce pilot, but ended up as a civil engineer and builder. As a builder he has built many homes, some bungalows, some apartments – but whatever he did, his flair for artistry and aesthetics was seen in each thing he handled.
He loves to work in Pen and Ink and black and white. His stippling and line work is simultaneously controlled and free spirited. His paintings show a great faith in traditional ethos, a mastery over medium and a poetry in minimalism.
